Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Fair Winds Sand Water Burial Biodegradable Urn big enough for an adult?

For most adults, yes. Using the one-cubic-inch-per-pound rule funeral homes follow, its 220 cubic inch capacity suits someone up to roughly 220 lbs.

Where can I hold a water burial?

Burial at sea in U.S. waters must take place at least three nautical miles from shore, with a report to the EPA within 30 days. For lakes, rivers or bays, check state and local rules first, as they vary.

How do I keep this urn safe before the ceremony?

Store it indoors somewhere dry and out of direct sun. Because it is designed to break down naturally, contact with water or damp conditions should wait until the ceremony itself.

When will my order ship?

Place your order before 1:00 PM CST on a weekday and it ships the same business day. Anything placed later ships the next business day. We are open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
